  18. Can anyone tell me what the proper mask, transfer rate, etc. should be on 
  19. my A3000 with 100MB Quantum hard drive and a Zip drive?  Both drives have 
  20. been formatted with the Fast File System (I have Workbench v2.1).

  22. I checked out these settings using HDToolbox, and for my Zip drive these 
  23. were the current settings:

  25.     Mask: 0x7ffffffe
  26.     Max. transfer rate: 0xffffff

  28. I was told that I should have a mask of 0xfffffffc for the Zip drive (I 
  29. didn't get a suggestion for the hard drive...maybe it should be the 
  30. same?).  I tried this mask, but it didn't seem to make any difference (I 
  31. didn't re-boot after changing it...should I?).

  33. According to SysInfo v3.15, I'm only getting about 570K/sec 
  34. transfer rate for the Zip drive, and about 750K/sec for the hard drive.  
  35. I was told that SysInfo isn't the best for measuring these speeds, but 
  36. that it should at least report better figures than this.

  38. The hard drive *may* be a little fragmented, but the Zip drive shouldn't 
  39. be too bad (I just got it recently).

  41. Are the mask and transfer rates as defined in HDToolbox out to lunch, and 
  42. if so what should they be?
